After practicing law in Hillsborough County for more than 28 years, I have the legal, trial and litigation experience necessary to be a Circuit Court Judge. I am a firm believer in the fair administration of justice and judicial integrity. I have litigated and resolved hundreds of cases; tried more than a hundred cases; and have briefed and/or argued dozens of appeals.

Shortly after admission to the Florida Bar, I served as an Assistant Public Defender for Hillsborough County from November 1985 to June 1988 – appearing before highly regarded judges such as Chief Judge Alvarez, James Arnold, Robert Bonanno, Manuel Menendez, Harry Lee Coe, Ed Ward and Edgar Hinson. During that period of time, I tried cases at the Juvenile, Misdemeanor and Felony levels.

In July, 1988, I joined Morris & Rosen, P.A., which later became the Morris Law Firm, and have been practicing commercial civil litigation for more than 25 years. As a statewide law practice, I have litigated hundreds of cases at nearly every level: state, federal, county and circuit court; oral argument before four of the five Florida District Court of Appeals, and the US Court of Appeals. Although we have a statewide practice, I have handled more than 500 cases in Hillsborough County. I have appeared in and am a member of all of Florida’s Federal District Courts (North, Middle, South), as well as the United States Bankruptcy Court in each District.

I have participated in jury trials from one half day to two weeks in length. My areas of practice have included: ERISA, ADA, EEOC, FLSA, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, construction disputes, real and personal property, contracts, collections, landlord – tenant, accountant malpractice, and surety. The surety work has covered areas involving bonds for: real estate (subdivision/development, mortgage brokers, title agents); motor vehicles (dealership, transport); construction (payment, performance); and judicial (probate, guardianship, replevin, supercedeas. Other legal work includes: business contracts, wills, trusts, real estate, leases, shareholder transfers, and bulk sales.

Actively involved in the legal community, I have been a speaker for Lorman Educational Services, the National Business Institute, SMACNA and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. My stipends are donated to Bay Area Legal Services, Inc., a not-for-profit organization providing legal services for the indigent.

As a 36-year resident of Tampa, I have numerous ties to the community through my involvement at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and School. At Jesuit High School, I was the varsity soccer coach for more than 26 years after two years at Chamberlain High School and one year at Spencer Memorial Baptist (now Tampa Baptist), plus active in several club soccer teams. Married to Debra Hopson Bauman since 1995, I am a dedicated step father to her three sons, Destin, Skyler and Corbin, and our son, Camden.

I have the experience, dedication and integrity to serve as your next Circuit Court Judge and appreciate your support.
